The day had gotten very nice, so we walked around the City Centre for a while, stopping to relax and sit on a bench in Hyde Park. It is very well maintained and pretty - a lovely place to stop and rest.
We then went to lunch at Longrain, a famous and incredibly popular Thai restaurant near Hyde Park. It is considered the best Thai food in the city and reportedly the waits for dinner can be 2 hours (no reservations). So we went for lunch! The food was excellent and the portions were very big (although we still managed to eat three main courses and dessert!). It was very different from the Thai place we ate at on Saturday (and also from Sripraphai which we went to in Queens last Sunday with Matt and Matt!)
After lunch we walked to the Sydney Jewish Museum about 20 minutes away and visited there. They had an interesting exhibit on South African Jews that had emigrated to Australia. We then walked for a while to the Paddington neighborhood where there are a lot of cute shops. We did a lot of window shopping and bought a couple things along the way. Here was one of the really cute things we saw -
And yes we bought chocolates in that store!
It was almost 5;30 at this point, so we headed back to the hotel where we did some of our favorite things - I napped while Craig went to the gym!
Since we have been eating our way through Australia so far, we saw no reason to change this pattern and went to est. for dinner. Craig had read about this restaurant and it was really delicious - probably our favorite so far. And guess what we had for dessert - passion fruit souffle!! We aren't quite sure if passion fruits are in season right now in particular, or if this is just the trendy dessert of the moment. But we enjoyed it.
Here are a couple last pictures of Sydney (for now)....
