Q&A

We wanted to take some time to answer the questions posted in the comments by Mr. Willard's Computer Lab class 1-231.

So here goes:

Do you know how those rocks on the beach got those holes?
The Remarkable Rocks were created naturally over time. They sit on a large granite dome and, over millions of years, wind, rain, and other weather have eroded parts away to make the remaining granite pieces (the rocks) look like sculptures. They are entirely nature-produced (organic) and not man-made at all.

Craig, were you holding the rock up with your head?
No, Craig was not holding the rock up himself - but we hoped that the picture would look like he was! The bottom of the rock was almost the exact same height as Craig's head so he just posed right under it.

Here are some more pictures of the Remarkable Rocks:

This one looks a little like a dolphin:

Did you enjoy your trip? What was your favorite part of your trip to Australia?
We loved our trip! We thought Australia was a really fascinating country. We were amazed how many different terrains there were in the country - cities, beach and ocean, desert, rain forest, grassy lands. We also thought that the people were very nice. Our favorite parts included the city of Sydney, the beach and water at the Great Barrier Reef, and seeing all the animals on Kangaroo Island.

How did you get the kangaroo so close to the camera?
There were a number of different kangaroos that we were able to get close to. There was the one baby kangaroo that was crawling on Craig's leg and he has become somewhat of a pet to the hotel, so he is comfortable around people and not scared.
For some of the other ones, which we saw when we were out of the hotel, we were very careful to be quiet and non-threatening, and not get quite too close. They were eating dinner (grass) so they were busy and as long as we were not trying to hurt them, they were calm. We did have to be careful, though, because we did not want to make them feel like they were in danger. In fact, if the kangaroos had thought they were in danger, they could have run after us and tried to defend themselves (and the little joey) which would not have been good.

Here are some additional kangaroo pictures:

We are glad that you enjoyed our blog and we hope that you learned something about Australia along the way.
